American Structurepoint, as a subcontractor to Walsh Construction Company, provided construction engineering services for slide-in bridge operations to replace twin 3-span bridges carrying eastbound and westbound I-70 over State Road 121/New Paris Pike in Wayne County, Indiana. The bridge is located near mile 155 on I-70, which is about 1 mile west of the Indiana-Ohio state line between US 40 exit 156 and SR 227 Exit 153. The slide-in operation was completed 5 days ahead of schedule – it was expected to take up to 13 days, but the slide-in was completed in 8 days, and the bridge reopened to traffic by 6 a.m. on September 17. You can watch a 43-second time-lapse video of the first slide in by clicking here. The second bridge slide for eastbound I-70 will begin on October 13.
