An October topping off ceremony at the Marion County Criminal Justice Center campus in Indianapolis shows that construction is progressing well. The event celebrated the completion of primary structural framing of the Marion County Sheriff’s Building and Adult Detention Center (ADC). American Structurepoint is structural engineer of record for the ADC/Sheriff Building and architect of record for the Sheriff Building core and shell. Don Corson, Kate Oliver, Ben Wagner, and Jerica Barlow of the structural engineering team attended the event along with Bangalore Prakash and Chad Smitley from our structural subconsultant, JPS Consulting Engineers. The ADC is a 3,000-bed, 718,000-sft, 5-story facility and connects to the adjacent 3-story, 83,000-sft sheriff’s department building. Completion is expected in 2022. American Structurepoint is honored to be a part of the AECOM Hunt design-build team providing engineering and architectural services for the $585 million campus.
