Check Out My New Monthly Column
Welcome to my first-ever president’s column, a new feature of our monthly employee newsletter. I look forward to sharing with you insights about our company—whether that be a recent company success story, a piece of our rich company history, or strategy points that will propel us to continued success. I may even discuss a hot industry topic or issue in the news. Whatever the topic, I hope you will find this column a worthwhile read in the months ahead.
Happy 50th
Beautiful fall weather greeted us the morning of November 9 for the banner drop/kickoff celebration of our 50th anniversary year. It was a personal thrill to welcome back two early company leaders, Bill Gervasio and Willard Hale, to assist with the banner drop. It also was very special to me that two of our newest staff members, Danielle Keys from the Accounting Group and Dustin Foster from our Indy Civil Group, took part representing our company’s future. In today’s business environment, it is quite an accomplishment to sustain and grow a business for 50 years, to remain relevant in the marketplace, to be a leader in your field, and to set the bar higher and higher for improving the quality of life for our communities and our people. American Structurepoint has achieved all this and more, thanks to the value system and business philosophy established by our early company leaders, such as Jim Wurster, Bill, and Willard. We’ve also remained an industry leader thanks to our ability to continually attract top new talent, such as Danielle and Dustin, who help carry on our company’s legacy. Our strong value system, our commitment to excellence, and our employees will be the keys to getting us to our next 50-year milestone.
We are working to plan several anniversary events over the next 11 months leading up to Nov. 9, 2016, the 50th anniversary of our company’s incorporation. Stay tuned too for a special announcement as we thank the Indianapolis community for its role in our success. This next year truly will be a memorable one.
About our Mission Statement
You may have noticed that our company mission statement, “We improve the quality of life for our communities and our people” is now displayed prominently on the hallway wall across from the first-floor elevators at our corporate headquarters. As we celebrate a milestone anniversary, these words are an appropriate reminder of our company’s main purpose, our raison d’etre as the French would say. Or as a Boilermaker would say, it’s why we do what we do.
Holiday Message
As we move through this festive month, I wish you and your family a joyous holiday season. Your work is the reason for our success. Thank you for all you do to make this company great, to serve our clients well, and to give back to the communities in which we do business. I’m looking forward to seeing each of you at our annual holiday party, set for Dec. 12 at the Westin.
