A pedestrian crossing project for which we provided construction inspection services to the City of Athens, Ohio has received the 2021 Project Of The Year Award for projects under $5 million from the American Society of Highway Engineers Central Ohio Section. A new bridge and pedestrian passageway replaced the original at-grade crossing on Richland Avenue near Grover Center and Porter Hall near the Ohio University campus. The passageway improves safety for 6,500 pedestrians who use it daily to walk throughout the college campus. The project included pedestrian-friendly barriers, aesthetic lighting, walk reconfiguration, and intersection improvements.
