Porter County citizens are now enjoying a renovated, ADA-compliant entrance plaza at the Porter County Administration Center in Valparaiso, Indiana after a June ribbon cutting. Our team of architecture, civil engineering, and landscaping architecture pros designed the nearly $1 million front entrance plaza to include a sloped walkway with lighted handrails, making access easier for seniors and the disabled. The 25-year-old former entrance was crumbling, inhospitable to users, and costly to maintain. Our design fixed that and more – it included permeable pavement, decorative seat walls, green space, tree planter boxes, programmable exterior lighting to enhance aesthetics, and interpretative signage. The plaza also features an underground heating system to prevent ice and snow accumulation and an underground storage tank to collect stormwater runoff that will then be used to irrigate the improved landscaping.
