The Lawrence Township students mentored by American Structurepoint employees via the ACE Mentor Program performed well at the Scholarship Awards Dinner held May 16th at the Indianapolis East Marriott Hotel. They were among six teams of students presenting and displaying their projects to more than 300 assembled ACE members, faculty, and family members. All students were challenged to design an Indianapolis Zoo animal exhibit. Our team designed a facility for the gray wolf that included veterinary services, viewing platforms, feeding and quarantine areas, and a den for the animals to get “quiet time.” The design also included a wide expanse of landscape providing the animals space to run near the zoo’s current tiger exhibit. Jade Woodson, an intern shared by the Marketing Communications and Interiors teams, participated as a student for the Lawrence Township team.
The program also included mentor and student awards. Landscape Architect Ted Bleicher of the Planning and Economic Development Group received the Lawrence Township team’s Mentor of the Year Award. Four Lawrence Township students won scholarships totaling $11,000, and Ayman Barkat, a 2018 graduate of Lawrence North High School, received the $2,000 American Structurepoint Scholarship. Thank you to all the members of the American Structurepoint team who made this program year possible. Stay tuned for future news on this tremendous program.
