Kentucky has its derby, Indy its 500 Mile Race, and now American Structurepoint has its first-ever greatest spectacle in tricycle racing known as Laps & Lagers. Employees raced adult-sized tricycles around a course set up in the corporate headquarters parking lot in the event sponsored by our Community Service and Wellness teams. Forty-four racers competed in heats with the goal of completing the fastest time trial of two laps. While the task sounds easy, peddling the trikes proved a tough task, particularly for tall participants with long legs! The heats were highly competitive as racers attempted to bump, block, and bash their opponents off-course, thereby keeping them from reaching the finish line. Adam Hunley held the quickest time of 25.3 seconds for the majority of the race. That is, until Kyle Jones came peddling from behind to beat Adam by just .2 of a second to win with a time of 25.1 seconds. Kyle’s firs-place prize of $100 went to the charity of his choice. Kyle designated the Joe Grinstead Memorial Fund. Here’s hoping the greatest spectacle in tricycle racing returns in 2019! In the meantime, you can view all the photos on the T drive under Communications Department\Community\Bulletin Board\2018.
