If the name Dan Burch looked a bit familiar to you among the new employees for October, that’s because he IS familiar. Burch left American Structurepoint in May 2014 after 5 years here to pursue his longstanding dreams of working full time in children’s ministry and becoming fluent in Spanish. Dan traveled across 3 continents in 12 countries on a whirlwind adventure, culminating in 9 months working at a children’s home in Chapala, Mexico. Dan believes he was thoroughly blessed to work at the Love in Action Children’s Home with 23 children ranging in age from 4 to 17. All residents come to the home through the Mexican version of Child Protective Services after being removed from their families because of extreme abuse or neglect. Dan’s primary responsibility was caring for 5 boys ages 6 to 11, performing the duties that any normal dad would: feeding them, getting them ready for school, good hygiene, discipline, etc. “I learned so much about patience and how to love, even when it is difficult.” Dan returned to the US about 2 months ago and returned to American Structurepoint about a month ago. And yes, he became fluent in Spanish too. Welcome back, Dan!
