Tornadoes and floods dominated the nation’s news in August, and our Community Service group has responded to help those in need. The group will make a $1,000 donation to the Salvation Army to support that organization’s clean-up and relief efforts in Kokomo, Indiana. Community Service also donated $500 to assist with flood relief efforts in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which has suffered one of the most significant flooding disasters in recent years. Natalie Parks (Road Group) used the donation to buy supplies for a semi sent by her church, Freedom Church of Lebanon, Indiana, to Bethany Church in Baton Rouge. On August 30, church members drove the truck loaded with box fans, shovels, pick axes, hammers, pry bars, crow bars, utility knives, underwear, diapers, wipes, pack-n-plays, crib mattresses, and more to Louisiana. Bethany Church has three church campuses with members affected by the flooding, so the supplies will be invaluable to residents there.
