A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 27, in West Lafayette, Indiana, marked the completion of Phase 3 of the Cumberland Avenue Corridor project. This $5 million final phase of a three-phase project improved Cumberland Avenue from Salisbury Street to Soldiers Home Road. The roadway received new pavement, drainage upgrades, sidewalk replacement on the south side, and a new multi-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists on the north side of the street. Roadway lighting, landscaping and an expansion of Cumberland Elementary School’s parking lot also was included. An upgraded traffic signal was installed at the intersection of Cumberland Avenue and Salisbury Street, and lanes were reconfigured to improve motorist safety and the existing intersection alignment.
