Gary Road Project Supports Clean Waterways

Gary water quality is receiving a big boost thanks to a $1.2 million road improvement project for which we provided several services. A variety of green infrastructure, such as permeable pavement and perforated piping, was used for reconstructing the Shelby Street-Locust Avenue intersection project. The Gary Sanitary District authorized the project as part of its long-term plan to minimize overflows of wastewater and stormwater into the area’s waterways – specifically the Marquette Lagoons, Grand Calumet River, and Lake Michigan. We provided roadway design, environmental, land surveying, construction inspection, and landscape architecture services for the new roadway.
