American Structurepoint projects and people appeared in the news media 38 times in April. Read on for a recap.

  • The start of construction creating a walkable Hohman Avenue in Hammond, Indiana made news in Northwest Indiana Life and the Gary Post-Tribune. Engineers from our Merrillville design center designed the project that includes reducing the Hohman Avenue travel lanes to one lane in each direction, adding 40 spaces of angled parking down the center of Hohman and parallel parking on both sides of the street, decorative lighting, new sidewalks, and a realignment of Rimbach Street.
  • Multiple Indiana news outlets reported on groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Elanco Animal Health headquarters just west of downtown Indianapolis. We are providing civil engineering services for the new HQ. Articles appeared via the Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ), Inside Indiana Business, The Indianapolis Star, Fox 59 News, WFYI News, and WBIW.   • Purdue University released news of the university’s trustees approving plans for a state-of-the-art, $73 million High-Speed Propulsion Laboratory for which we are providing architecture design services. The new lab in the Discovery Park District will test capabilities at the extreme pressure and temperature conditions experienced in hypersonic flight. The news appeared in Inside Indiana Business, National Defense Magazine, the Purdue Newsroom, and Channel 18 WLFI News.
  • The Columbus Republic, Inside Indiana Business, ReBusiness Online, and RE Journals published articles about the Taylor groundbreaking, a $41 million downtown luxury apartment and urban grocer development for which we are providing architecture and civil engineering services.   • The River Ridge Development Authority approved a $38,900 contract with American Structurepoint to update River Ridge’s 2018 strategic plan. News of the signing appeared in Inside Indiana Business, Jeffersonville News and Tribune, and Yahoo News.
  • Current in Geist reported on the start of construction on IndyGo’s Purple Line rapid transit business line, connecting Lawrence with downtown Indianapolis. We are providing program management for the Indianapolis Department of Public Works on the project.
  • Statehouse File.com reported the state of Indiana decided to co-locate the Indiana School for the Deaf on the campus of the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI) on the northside of Indianapolis We are a member of the design team that will renovate the existing building on the ISBVI campus and design new facilities for students of both schools.
  • Several updates about the SR 32 project in Westfield appeared in local media during the month. We are providing roadway design services for the project to widen SR 32 from Poplar Street to East Street. Current in Westfield, The Indianapolis Star, and the Hamilton County Reporter reported on the project’s rising design costs and plans for designing a streetscape along the state highway.
  • The start of construction for a new roundabout at Alex Bell Road and Mad River Road in Montgomery County, Ohio, we designed made news in the Dayton Daily News, Channel WRGT, and Channel WDTN. We also provided landscape architecture services for the roundabout.
  • A public hearing about the SR 103 project in News Castle caught the attention of The New Castle Courier Times. Project Manager Jamie Stetzel gave a presentation at the hearing; we provided roadway design for the project from SR 38 to the Little Blue River, bridge servicers for the deck overlay at the Little Blue River, topographic survey services, and right-of-way and environmental services for the design.
  • American Structurepoint is one of six engineering firms creating preliminary engineering reports for a potential $100 million road bond to be on the November ballot in Kyle, Texas. The Community Impact Newspaper and Austin Latino.com reported about the preliminary engineering reports.
  • A feature article in the IBJ highlighting new warehouse and distribution centers under construction or being planned in Franklin, Indiana mentioned the I-65 South Logistics Center for which we are providing civil engineering, landscape architecture, and land surveying services. The River Ridge Development Authority (RRDA) in Clark County, Indiana approved a $38,900 contract with American Structurepoint for updating a strategic plan for the River Ridge Commerce Center, a world-class industrial and business development center. News about the new contract in Inside Indiana Business, Jeffersonville News and Tribune, and Yahoo News.
  • News of the City of Gary receiving $3.5 million in federal funds for the 27th Street and Chase Street force main project for which we provided utility infrastructure design services appeared in the Northwest Indiana Times. (Please see the article appearing elsewhere in the newsletter.)
  • Updates about two affordable housing projects in the Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio for which we provided civil engineering and land surveying services appeared in Columbus Business First. The Warner Homes duplexes are occupied now, and a 3-story apartment building with 40 units will be ready for residents this summer.
  • American Structurepoint made the list of 2021 Healthiest Employers of Indiana, according to First Personal Advisors.com (Please see the article appearing elsewhere in the newsletter.)
  • The Coshocton Tribune reported that Midstate Contractors will execute structural repair drawings from American Structurepoint as repairs begin to the historic Selby Building in Coshocton, Ohio.
  • The Downtown Columbus Commission’s approval of a 24-unit, 3-story apartment building in the Discovery District at 602 E. Town St., made news in Columbus Business First. We are providing civil engineering and land surveying services for the project.
  • Two roundabout projects we designed for the City of Carmel made news in the Hamilton County Reporter and Current in Carmel. The roundabout at Range Line Road and Medical Drive, the city’s 142nd roundabout, opened to traffic on April 28. Construction also began on the city’s 143rd roundabout at Range Line Road and 116th Street. Construction is expected to take about 110 days.
