Indy 500 Upgrades Include American Structurepoint Projects

The revamped Georgetown Road

Had fans been permitted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) Sunday, August 23 for the 104th running of the 500 Mile Race, they would have seen improvements courtesy of American Structurepoint. New IMS owner Roger Penske spent $11 million on many upgrades, including an improvement project along Georgetown Road for which we provided civil/site engineering and land surveying services. Georgetown Road is one of the main arteries leading to the track, and we removed two lanes of road to improve fan access behind the bleachers on the front straightaway. Improvements also include two new parking lots for which we also did civil/site engineering and land surveying. Drivers along Georgetown Road can enjoy the new roadway now, and the parking lots will be ready and waiting when fans return to the track in 2021. And remember to watch the race August 23 on NBC TV and the NBC Sports app; coverage starts at 1 p.m., with the green flag dropping at 2:30 p.m.
