PointUP hosted a crowd of over 70 employees, in person and via GoTo Meeting, for an interactive and informative lunch and learn. Guest speaker Thresette Briggs engaged the audience with strategies for reducing unconscious bias. During the presentation, she outlined the four kinds of unconscious bias including:
- Affinity Bias – leads to favoring people who are like us
- Confirmation Bias – tendency to interpret, focus, and remember in a way that confirms preconceptions
- Halo Effect Bias – one good thing means everything else is good
- Cloven Hoof Bias – generalizing one negative aspect and applying it to all performance
