Summer Time Means Crunch Time For I-66 Project

The long hours and literally thousands of final plan sheets are piling up for all of our Road and Bridge employees working on the Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway Project. More than 30 employees in Indiana, Ohio, and Texas are working to prepare design for the project. Our client for the project is FAM Construction, a joint venture between Ferrovial Agroman US and Allan Myers. We are the lead designer for Segment 3 of the project, which covers 7 miles of roadway, three complex interchange modifications, and 21 bridge structures. At $800 million in construction costs, this is the largest project we’ve ever worked on and is eight times larger than the Ohio River Bridges project segment we designed. Wing Lau, Segment 3 Project manager for the Road Group, says his team has prepared well over 2,200 plan sheets as of late May and made over 120 submittals or resubmittals to date. A few more months of roadway work remains.  Ben Borcherding, the Bridge Group project manager, says his team will have made over 130 bridge design submittals when their work concludes. The bridge work will continue throughout the rest of 2018.
