IU Hosts Ceremonial Groundbreaking for Regional Academic Center

A ceremonial groundbreaking for the new IU Health Bloomington Regional Academic Health Center on January 16 inside the Henke Hall of Champions celebrated the beginning of a new era in healthcare in southern Indiana. American Structurepoint is providing site/civil and structural engineering services for the project expected to be completed in 2020. The $389 million, 700,000-sft complex will include a cancer center, surgical services, a women’s center, neonatal intensive care, physician offices, trauma center, and state-of-the-art health care simulation training center. A 115,000-sft IU Academic Health Sciences Building will consolidate under one roof IU-Bloomington’s health sciences programming, which includes medicine, nursing, social work, speech and hearing, and dentistry. The complex also will include a new 620,000-sft IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Greg Henneke, Jack Lashenik, Shaun Cofer, and Tyler Comstock represented American Structurepoint at the hour-long ceremony.
