Santa – the Naughty and the Nice

Our third annual “Bad Santa” happy hour event on December 2 was a great success. Lots of great food and fun, plus a grown-up spin on the traditional pictures with Santa. Ken Olson, Liz Kokosinski, Adam Logeman, and Josh Cribelar starred as Santa and his elves. Generous partygoers tipped their elf servers and bought raffle tickets to the tune of $1,442.76. Congratulations to Liz Kokosinski, who won the Colts tickets and tailgate package (donated by Luke Kahren), and to Myra Day, who won the hotel stay donated by the JW Marriott. Many thanks to everyone who helped set up and tear down.

Santa then reverted overnight to his more typical personality in the form of Dennis Hutchinson, along with his wife, Maura, playing the role of Mrs. Claus. The Hutchinson team was a big hit with kids and pets from many American Structurepoint families, who all posed for more traditional pictures with Santa on December 3. Many thanks to Krista Lawson for photo documenting both of Santa’s visits to our humble headquarters. Donations for photos came in at $401.

Proceeds from both events were matched by the company, so the combined Santa events after the match produced $3,687.52 that we’ll be putting to work in our communities to help students, veterans, families, and others who are struggling this season.

Raffle Mania

Every fall, when we ask Anitra Lewis (the founder and ringleader for our biggest fundraiser each year) about Raffle Mania, she says, “Maybe we’ll do something a little smaller this year.” And every year she helps us go bigger and better, instead. This year’s record-setting event featured 50 prizes donated by our vendors and staff – everything from golf outings to spa gift cards to Pacers tickets to Pickled Peddler adventures and Escape Room attempts with our VPs. Congratulations to our many lucky winners!! Attendees purchased $5,332.29 in raffle tickets and food. With the company match, that added $10,664.58 to the Community Service coffers. We’ve already put a good chunk of that into action, shopping for disadvantaged families, hospital patients, and nursing home residents, and your generosity will enable us to say yes to even more of the great giving ideas we received from employees this time of year.

Coming Soon: Super Bowl 51 Huddle-Up Social

We don’t know yet who’ll be playing in the Super Bowl, but we already know that local charities are going to win big! The Community Service Team will be bringing back the Huddle Up event the first week of February. This will be a lunch-hour event where employees will have a chance to warm up with chili and typical game-day food, socialize with coworkers, and enter a Super Bowl Squares contest. Those who pick the winning squares for each quarter can choose a charity to receive a donation from the Community Service Program. Stay tuned for details!
