The new Michigan City Police Station held a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony on July 28 from 9am-7pm with hourly tours held throughout the day for the public to see inside the state of the art facility. Mayor Ron Meer led the dedication ceremony at 6pm. This 42,000 square foot project was completed ahead of schedule AND under budget!
American Structurepoint worked with Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer, City Council Police Chief Mark Swistek, and the Police Department for a design that provides the best security possible while incorporating sustainability and community integration. Located in the Eastport district, the station will help stimulate Michigan City’s economy, improve the value of the Eastport neighborhood and its quality of life, and generate funding for Michigan City’s economy by opening up the valuable piece of land near Lake Michigan where the old, 50-year-old station currently sits.
American Structurepoint is honored to have been chosen to be a part of this project. Congratulations to both the police department as well as the residents of Michigan City! Learn more here!
