Kudos to our Planning Group for winning two top prizes from the Indiana Chapter of the American Planning Association. American Structurepoint received the 2016 Outstanding Plan Award for the Columbia City comprehensive plan entitled Level Up. This project updated a 2003 comprehensive plan to serve as a long-term strategic guide to help the community manage and facilitate stable growth to achieve community goals. Planning also received the 2016 Outstanding Communications Initiative Award for the “Wabash Strategic Revitalization Plan for America’s Best Communities.” American Structurepoint partnered with Green Hat Productions in Wabash to create an innovative communications and planning project. They combined the use of traditional planning media with video and photography media to tell the present and future story of Wabash. The project slogan, “Dream Big. Be Big.” was used on T-shirts, banners, window stickers, and social media pages to spark community interest. A coffee table book created by American Structurepoint of the revitalization plan and renderings illustrated the future vision and dreams of some community development projects to improve Wabash. Throughout the planning process, American Structurepoint staff worked closely with local businesses and civic organization to form new project ideas to identify in the plan. Twitter and Facebook social media sites then shared this information with the public.
