Ricardo Zamarripa nominated for prestigious award

Congratulations to Vice President Ricardo Zamarripa of our Austin, Texas, office upon his nomination for the  Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Heart of Texas (HOT) Chapter Secretary Ray LaHood (Man of the Year) Award. The HOT chapter nominated Ricardo for his outstanding achievements, leadership, and contributions to the field of transportation in general and to the advancement of women in transportation in particular. The chapter is giving this award for the first time, and only one other nominee made the cut for the nomination. Ricardo’s nomination cites among his contributions to the transportation industry his instrumental role in developing sustainable green solutions for the US 290/SH 71 interchange in Austin. The improvements to the interchange resulted in $8 million in cost savings over the project’s previous schematic. The nomination also points out that Ricardo has continually hired a high percentage of women and minorities for his organizations and given them opportunities for growth, advancement, industry exposure, and opportunities for key positions. “This was a pretty big surprise to learn of this, and I am so honored to gain this nomination,” Ricardo said. Ricardo will wait anxiously to find out if he wins the award – the winner will be announced at the WTS Heart of Texas Chapter Gala and Scholarship Fundraiser on Feb. 12, 2016. Good luck, Ricardo!
