Community Service Hub: Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering Time – Matching Hours: American Structurepoint has generously offered to match half of your volunteer time (up to two hours) per month for employees who participate in any company-sponsored events. Previously, volunteer hours were only matched for blood donation and time spent at DREAM Alive. Now, any American Structurepoint-sponsored volunteer opportunity is eligible. Therefore, if you spend four hours volunteering per month, you can charge two of those hours on your timesheet. Upcoming volunteer opportunities include:

  • Meals on Wheels (May 1, June 5): American Structurepoint is teaming with Hamilton County Meals on Wheels to provide meal delivery to elderly, disabled, and homebound residents. Our route will be on the first Wednesday of every month, departing from Community North with a total of eight stops. If you are interested in volunteering to be delivery driver, please contact Christine Meador.)
  • DREAM Alive 30-Hour Fast and Community Day (May 15-16 – see accompanying article for details)
  • Fuller House volunteering opportunities will take place on May 11 and June 5 and 12. On May 11, we’ll be getting a group of volunteers together at Allison Transmission to help nail wall panels together from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Bring hammers and gloves if you have them; extras will be available on site. Dress for the weather, and make sure to wear closed-toed shoes. All employees, spouses, friends, etc., are welcome, but young children are not invited due to the physical nature of the construction. Sign up on the Department Drive (HR DeptSignup SheetsFuller House 2013-05-11) by the end of the day on Monday, May 6, 2013, to join in the fun! Contact Ali Krupski with any questions. Construction will be ongoing June 3-14. Details are coming soon for our June work days.

Community service projects are now on the Intranet Calendar; look for the brown dots. Also, our interactive calendar is on the Intranet with links for more information and sign-ups for volunteer events.

What Others are Doing: Check out what your fellow employees are doing in the community under the Community Service Tab. For example, Amanda Johnson (Transportation) is raising money through Relay for Life on June 1-2. If you would like to participate in these events, contact the employee associated with the event. If you are participating in an event you would like included on the Intranet, contact Christine Meador (Environmental). (Note that these events are not eligible for matching volunteer hours from the company).
